The Best Genres For Quick Phone Sessions
Not every genre fits a phone the same way. Casual and arcade games are built for short bursts — you can open one, play a round, and lock the screen without losing anything. These are the ones I reach for in a queue.
Puzzles sit in a nice middle ground. A single level rarely takes long, but a good puzzle game respects a pause so you can stop mid-think. Racing games work too, since a race is over in a couple of minutes.
RPGs and strategy games are a different animal. They reward longer sessions, and trying to squeeze them into five minutes just leaves you frustrated when a cutscene or a slow turn eats your time. Save those for the sofa.
My rule of thumb: match the game to the gap in your day. A dense strategy game on a crowded bus is a recipe for annoyance, but a quick arcade run is perfect. Having a couple of each installed covers most situations.
