Hollow Lantern
★★★★★ 4.5
Hollow Lantern is slow in the best way. You wander, tap on things, solve gentle environmental puzzles, and slowly piece together what happened to a town everyone left behind. The atmosphere does a lot of heavy lifting, and it earns it.
Touch controls are forgiving — the game highlights interactable objects if you hold the screen, which saves a lot of blind tapping. Settings include a reading-speed option for dialogue and a colourblind mode that actually seems well thought out. Battery was fine thanks to the static, hand-painted scenes.
Play it with headphones in a quiet room. It's the sort of game that deserves your attention rather than a half-watched TV.
